Birthday Party FAQ
-
Unfortunately we do not have a party room, and we do not allow outside food or drink. Most parties these days are going elsewhere after the game, such as a restaurant or home. There is a Pizza Pizza close to us that has seating as well as a few other nearby options.
-
Which game you choose will depend on your groups age and level of experience. For younger or more inexperieced groups we usually recommend Operation Flamingo or Mystery at Maryweather Mansion. Walden’s Wizarding Shop is more appropriate for ages 11+ and It Came From the Attic is our most challenging (and slightly spooky) game.
-
Each of our games has a capacity for about 10 kids + 1-2 accompanying adults. If you have a party size that is bigger than that, we usually split the kids up into two different games at the same time.
-
Although our immediate area is known more for furniture stores than restaurants, there are 3 major Pizza chains within walking distance. Within driving distance there is a Firkin pub with large tables (call ahead to ensure seating). Also Greektown, an area famous for it’s restaurants is a 15 minute drive away.
-
Although we allow all ages to play our games, we find that to really participate in the puzzle solving we recommend ages 8+. Children that are younger than that are more than welcome, but they might be involved as spectators. Having said that, they still have a great time! We also host plenty of adult birthdays, as this is a fun experience for all ages.
-
Our games are always private, you will never be lumped in with another team.
-
Your team will be paired with an “Adventure Guide”, who will be monitoring the game. They will recieve unlimited hints, and their Guide will do their best to get them through the entire experence.
-
At the time of reservation we just ask that you make your best guess as to how many kids will be attending so that we can plan for it on our side. Since you don’t pay until you get to our facility, you won’t end up paying for anyone that’s not in attendance.
-
We ask that you arrive about 10 minutes prior to you game time. Generally parents of the other children attending drop the kids off at that point. Then we go over some rules before starting the game as close to the time of your booking as possible. Afterwards we take a photo and do a debrief, so budget to be with us about and hour and twenty minutes to an hour and a half.
-
For ages 11 and under, we require a paid adult to be in the room with the children, to supervise the children and to assist them with puzzles they might have trouble with (don’t worry, your Adventure Guide will also be assisting)
-
There is street parking on the Danforth as well as free parking for 3 hours at the Lowe’s on the south side of the Danforth.
-
As birthday parties tend to book well in advance on weekends, if you plan to do the same it’s advisable to book a few weeks in advance to ensure you get the game and time that you want. Weekdays are generally easier to book closer to the day.
-
Cancellations within 48 hours of the booking time will be charged a penalty to the card on file. The same policy applies to ‘no shows’ or very late arrivals.
“We booked for a 10th birthday. The quality of the game and the level of the staff engagement exceeded all our expectations! It was incredible experience and value.”
